Christie Cortese, BSW, MSW Student, RSW

  • Student and Registered Social Worker

I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and am currently completing my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Lakehead University. I have a passion for supporting individuals with improving their mental wellness and working towards living a more comfortable and peaceful life.
Reaching out for support can feel scary and takes a lot of strength. In my practice, I understand the importance of developing a strong therapeutic relationship based on trust, safety, and compassion. I offer a non-judgmental and safe space for individuals who are going through life’s challenges and transitions. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, interpersonal relationships, grief, or loss, I would be honoured to work alongside you.

Through a strengths-based and client-directed approach, we can work together to establish realistic and attainable therapeutic goals. My practice draws upon a unique blend of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) – informed, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, meditation, and self-compassion to help support you with reaching your goals. If you’re wondering if I can help you, please contact me and we can determine together if I am the right fit for you.

When I’m not working, you can find me gardening, tending to my houseplants, being in nature, and spending time with my pets, family, and friends.
